BACKGROUND

The Scandinavian Festival was first conceived in 2012 when the Danish Club of Brisbane decided to take a new approach to celebrate their 140th anniversary than the usual "black tie dinner". Led by the President of the Danish Club, Soren Hoimark and his wife, Lone Schmidt, Brisbane's first Scandinavian Festival was born

The festival offers an unique opportunity to enjoy the many aspects of the Scandinavian culture and attracts visitors from a broad demographic of over 15 000  every year.

Thanks to support from the Queensland Government, Brisbane City Council and our valued sponsors, the Scandinavian Festival offers plenty of fun for the whole family. Kids are always well catered for with a range of traditional activities such as a Lego playroom, a Viking painting studio, Swedish floor ball and much more.

The yearly raffle is one of the festival highlights where participants gets the chance to win one of the amazing prizes donated from various sponsors.

The Scandinavian Festival is a not-for profit event organised by passionate volunteers from the Scandinavian clubs of Brisbane (Danish Association Heimdal, Norwegian Club of QLD, Swedes Down Under, the Finnish and the Estonian Association. The aim is simply to showcase and celebrate the proud Scandinavian culture and traditions with the rest of Brisbane.
